General Information about the Pi Tau Omicron (P31) Sorority.
Pi Tau Omicron Sorority held its first end of year event on Saturday evening, 14 December 2013 at the fabulous Malmaison Hotel in London and chose as the 2014 vision: ‘Value in Myself, Value in Service’.
With guest speakers from healthcare, investment banking and global professional financial services firms the evening was as stimulating as it was enjoyable.
Some of the potential Sorority sisters asked for the membership entry criteria to be made available online so here it is!
We have ended our 2013 programme of events now but 2014 is just round the corner… so until then season’s greetings and wishing you all our ‘Pi Tau Omi’ Sorority Sisters a very Happy New Year!
Membership Entry Criteria
Your credentials – please see the criteria below.
You will need to let us have a short profile about you, and the name and contact details for two referees. (preferably email addresses). One of these should already be a P31 Sorority Sister (we can introduce you to a member local to you if you do not know anyone in the Sorority yet)- who can attest to your suitability to join as a Sorority Sister. The other may be either a colleague who have worked with you – who can attest to your professional experience and skills.
This criteria is to maintain a high standard of sorority candidates for our membership, and protect the reputation within the circle of greek letter Sororities.
Most members will be able to state at which level they are eligible to join. However, if you are not sure please state ‘To be determined’ on the profile you submit.
Platinum-level Sorority Sisters
All Sorority Sisters on the list as Platinum Sisters will have at minimum of a graduate degree plus 7 years’ post qualification working experience in one or a combination of the following types of work roles:
Chair and/or non-executive director of a charity, publicly listed company or private corporations
Chief Executive Officer, COO, CFO and other C-suite executive or director level appointments in a charity, a publicly listed company or a private corporations
Director of a family owned business/ companies
Mid-level manager to Director within of government agencies
Mid-level manager to Director of an established registered non-profit organisations
Institutional investment community mid to senior level professional
A professional in an established profession services firms at mid-senior level working or reporting to internal or external boards/ board committee level
Entrepreneur leading a start-up or early stage company or charitable/ not-for-profit enterprise
An academic career within established academic institutions both inside and outside the church denomination
Gold-level Sorority Sisters: All Sorority Sisters on the list as Gold-level Sisters will have at least a graduate degree plus 5 years’ working experience in one or a combination of the above types of work roles but at Mid-level to Director level, eg:
Mid-level manager to Director within a public sector or central government agency
Mid-level manager to Director of an established registered non-profit organisation or private company
Silver-level Sorority Sisters: All Sorority Sisters on the list as Silver-level Sisters will have at least a graduate degree plus 3 years’ working experience in one or a combination of the above types of work roles but at Entry-level management to Mid-level Manager grade, eg:
Entry-level manager to Mid-level manager within a public sector or central government agency
Entry-level manager to Mid-level manager of an established registered non-profit organisation or private company
Associate Sorority Sisters: All women who wish to join and who are either still in full time Secondary or first degree university education AND are under 21 years old can join as Associate Sorority Sisters and will move automatically to Bronze-level on completion of their education.
Pi Tau Omicron Core Values
All Sorority sisters should be able to demonstrate that they are either already financially literate or that they are completing one of the financial literacy seminar and workshop sessions offered through local churches such as the ‘Access The Power for Your Finances!’ programme.
In addition, the Sorority sisters believes that all P31 members should be practitioners of excellence in everything that they do – and be willing to grow, learn and demonstrate personal development and improvement in areas for improvementa.
This suggests you will have/ would like to actively develop the following soft-skills and qualities:
You are articulate, a good communicator and a very good listener
You have a high level of emotional Intelligence – with the ability to understand the dynamics of the group and how to deal with conflict effectively when it arises
You have the ability to self-assess and self-evaluate
You enhance the contributions of others in your network of friends and associates through honest feedback
You are a leader when appropriate, but you are also aware of collective responsibility
You engage with colleagues and wider stakeholders when planning and looking for solutions to problems
You can challenge issues in constructively in an objective way and can be supportive when necessary
You have a sharp mind and proven good judgement
You are self-confident without being dogmatic
You understand the importance of independence of thought
You have the courage to stand up for that which is in the best interests of the team
You understand how to add value to any group that you are part of
You are a proven Team player
You are committed to a core of Christ- centred and Christian led values, ethics and morals
